Almost every shelter needs many foster homes to take care of their dogs while they are looking for a new home for the pooch. As a foster owner, you will have the dog live in your home and take care of the dog including feeding it, walking it, helping socialize it and evaluate the dog’s temperament to better understand the type of home that would work best for this dog. It’s a great way to help out a shelter as well as to become a dog owner for a time. Usually, a dog will spend anywhere from a few weeks to a few months in a foster home before a permanent home is found.
